It's our birthday year...

Welcome to our new project site! I am so pleased to start sharing our news with you, and to introduce our Northern Stages online space and 40th birthday celebrations.

2010 is set to be an exciting and momentous year for Northern Stage, and I’m delighted to be playing a part in it by managing this exciting 40th birthday project.

We’ve spent the past few months beginning to pull together an exciting programme, which celebrates the theatre’s birthday and explores our project theme of northernness in an interesting and sometimes unexpected way. As you’ll see from our Programme page, the activity already comes in a variety of forms for you to see and do, and runs through a full 12 months.

I hope you enjoy exploring the site – our About page has a word from Erica our chief executive, offering insight into what lead us to celebrate our 40th birthday this way. Also, we want to hear your feelings and ideas – and I hope you’ll do this by visiting our Northe project page, where your input will help to build a snapshot of the world and play a part in a live event we will host later in 2010.

Keep checking back for news items as we make our way to our grand total of 40 conversations about northernness. We will also post birthday celebration updates and insights from the artists we’re working into their reasons for getting involved – this might be in the form of interviews, videos, short stories and sound clips.
