Apples
Produced by Northern Stage and Company of Angels
Written by Richard Milward
Enter the dazzling, chaotic world of Adam & Eve. They depict a very different Eden. On a council estate where cheap booze flows as freely as the wild experiences of the teenagers that live there, friendships mean everything and families are left behind. Funny, tragic and delightful, it's ‘Catcher in the Rye meets the Arctic Monkeys’
The first stage adaptation of Richard Milward’s remarkable debut novel, Apples is a co-production between Northern Stage and Company of Angels.

Richard Milward was born in 1984 in Middlesbrough, UK. His debut novel, Apples, was published by Faber & Faber in 2007 to great critical acclaim in the UK, receiving accolades from such folk as Irvine Welsh ("One of the best books I've ever read about being young, working-class and British") and Lauren Laverne ("Funny, tragic, and transcendent"). His second novel, Ten Storey Love Song, was released in the UK by Faber & Faber in February 2009, and was chosen as one of Waterstone's New Voices 2009. To date, his books have been translated into 7 different languages (Dutch, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Hebrew, and Romanian).
His writing (both fiction and nonfiction) has appeared in The Face, Dazed, & Confused, Arena, Vice, The Guardian, Loops, Le Gun, and other publications. In June 2008, Richard graduated from Byam Shaw at Central St Martin's College of Art, London, with a degree in Fine Art. He has exhibited his artwork at Waterstone's bookshops across the UK, as well as the bonny, bohemian Amuti Gallery, in London.
